COMPUTER NAMES

NOTE: IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE COMPUTER, YOU SHOULD NAME THEM FOLLOWING THIS PLAN:
1ST COMPUTER JONES1234
2ND COMPUTER JONES1234A
3RD COMPUTER JONES1234B


THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOR WINDOWS XP:

1. Right click on My Computer
2. Left click on Properties at the bottom of the list.
3. Left click on the tab Computer Name.
4. Left click on Change
5. Write your last name and phone extension on top of the blue, right under Computer Name.
6. Left click on OK.
7. Left click on OK to exit.
8. Restart your computer by going to Start, Turn off Computer, Restart

THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOR VISTA:

1. Click Start
2. Click Control Panel (classic view)
3. Click System icon
4. Click Change Settings
5. Click Continue in Permission window
6. Click the Change button
7. Now type in your last name and 4 digits of your phone number
8. Click OK
9. Click Apply and OK in System Properties window
10. Restart computer by going to Start, Turn off Computer, Restart

1. Click on the Apple in upper left hand corner
2. Click on System information --Example: Mac OS X Software
3. Click on System Preferences
4. Under Internet and Network click on Sharing Folder
5. In the Computer Name field: Type in last name and 4 digits of phone extension
6. Restart computer

THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOR MSN TV (WEB TV)

After you turn on the MSNTV, from the desktop
Arrow Up to Settings - Enter
Arrow over to:  Choose Connection Settings - Enter
Arrow Over to:  Check Broadband Status - Enter
Find the Physical Address (MACID):  Record it
Select Done - Enter
Arrow over to Done again - Enter
Arrow over to Done again - Enter
 
You are then finished

2. Select Settings.
3. Select Control Panel.
4. Double click on Network icon.
5. Click on the identification tab.
6. In the Computer Name field: Type in Computer Name provided on front page.
7. Select OK.
8. Restart.
